My name is Kimberly Rodriguez. I am currently in my fourth year of teaching Kindergarten and my 13th year of my teaching career.  I live in Whitesboro, TX but teach in Gainesville, TX. I have taught Sixth Grade for many years in Roswell, New Mexico along with Second Grade.  I would like to become a Reading Intervention teacher.  I enjoy helping students start their path in Kindergarten to becoming lifelong learners.  I reflect on how I was unable to help some of my lowest sixth grade students because of my lack of understanding of the basic building blocks of reading.

I will have my students use ISTE standard 1.3 to curate  information from digital resources to create a collection of artifacts that demonstrate meaningful connection or conclusions about TEKS K.6.A as students identify and record observable physical properties and of objects, including shape, color, texture, and materials, generate ways to classify objects.  These standards will be addressed by students being set into teams and using iPads to record the different properties of objects and produce a slideshow explaining their findings using talk to text programs, digital pictures and google slides. The students would then be able to present their discovery of different physical properties to other classmates in our class or possibly publish to be viewed globally.  They also can use the talk to text technology available to explain how they used each object's properties of shape, color, texture and material to classify and why they made the choice.  Students could also research objects that they find most interesting to continue their project to meet their intents. Students can also use different background, text, color to personalize their group slide show. Later they can use their learning to help students who are Emerging Bilingual visual learners.
